GRCVIC Speciality 2024

Updated: Jan 3

This long weekend away was such a fun and memorable one. A lot of travelling, great friends, and even better dogs.

This was my very first time travelling to Victoria with a dog of my own to exhibit, which made the trip feel extra special. With my driving partners Janelle and Harry (Ch Dobro Nightwatch), we set off on the long journey down to Melbourne.

Of course, no road trip is complete without a stop at the infamous Dog on the Tucker Box.

We took our time on the drive, stopping regularly for breaks and dog park runs along the way. The dogs did their very best to stay clean, but the muddy puddle at the Albury dog park was far too tempting to resist 😂 Some things are simply unavoidable.

Once we arrived, we settled into our AirBnb and got everything organised and ready for the next day’s shows. After a long drive, a quiet night in was very welcome.

At the specialty, Tilly placed third in her class 🥉 While placings are always nice, I was more than happy with this result as it meant she received a critique, which to me is the most valuable part of a specialty show.

Miss Emma Archibald (Ireland) - "Girl with good reach of neck. Would prefer better return of upper arm to balance with her rear angles. Good depth of chest and spring of rib. Moved freely."

I also had the pleasure of taking Harry (Ch Dobro Nightwatch) and Chase (Giltedge Catch Me Later) into the ring over the weekend. I genuinely love handling other dogs. It is so much fun, and every dog teaches you something new. Handling different dogs constantly helps improve my skills, as no two dogs ever move or feel the same.

Weekends like this are some of my favourites. These are the moments that make the journey so enjoyable.
